SESSIONS FAMILY THERAPY IS PASSIONATE ABOUT DEVELOPING THRIVING RELATIONSHIPS, BOTH WITHIN THE FAMILY AND WITHIN YOURSELF
Through exploration of the unique stories that define each individual or family we work with, we gain a vital understanding to help them identify and navigate their value system in a way that fosters mental and emotional wellbeing.
about us
Sessions Family Therapy was founded on the principle that mental health challenges do not exist in a vacuum.
Whether it is depression, anxiety, addiction, post-traumatic stress or relationship discord, mental health symptoms and life stress are inherently tied to family functioning. Family relationships can be negatively impacted by mental health symptoms just as they can contribute to mental health symptoms. It is with this concept in mind that we approach cases with an integrated lens of psychodynamic, behavioral and family systems theories.
This combined approach provides the environmental context in identifying problem areas and provides clarity to what are often complex, “blindspot” issues.
At Sessions Family Therapy we believe in the healing power of authentic relationships.
That means we model healthy relationships with our clients to help them recognize and find fulfilling, authentic relationships in their lives.
how we help
When it comes to family health and wellbeing, we see an opportunity to strike a balance between the old and the new, by respecting the wisdom of what history and traditional views offer, while simultaneously welcoming modern discoveries.
Each family has a unique subculture. As therapists we seek to understand the intricacies and nuances of each individual or family we work with, so that we may help them identify and navigate their value system in a way that allows clients to be the best versions of themselves.
We are passionate in helping our clients uncover the barriers that may be keeping them or their families from realizing the fulfillment and joy they deserve in life.
Areas of Focus
ADOLESCENT & PARENTING
When compared to the stressful demands of adulthood, it is easy to minimize the problems of our teenage children. Yet, the reality is teenagers face a myriad of challenges that can be invisible to the naked eye and often are kept secret from the important adults in their life.
CODEPENDENCY
While upbringing and relationship history play an important role in the development of codependent tendencies, it is often the introduction of a life stressor experienced by one individual in the family/couple that can lead to, or exacerbate the development of such relationship patterns.
FIRST RESPONDERS
There is constant immense pressure on first responders to be cool and calm under great distress...even when that distress exists in their own minds. The reality is that first responders and their families have unique needs that too often are missed by mental health professionals who are not familiar with both the demands of the job and its subculture.
